Sick baby

Riley has been sick this weekend. Poor baby hasn't been able to keep anything down since Friday. This is our first time to deal with this kind of sickness. It's been quite interesting...and full of stories. If you're easily squemish, you might want to skip this post!

Saturday was the beginning with the 6am feeding ending with Riley replaying a scheme from "The Ex-or-cist". I yelled and woke up DH - not the nicest way to wake up your husband! He tended to Riley while I tried to clean off the rocker. The remaining feedings were more of the same. Poor baby, you could tell she was not feeling so hot. She continued to eat, but just couldn't keep it down. By last night I thought we were through it.

Riley and I were on the couch playing for a bit before she went to bed. I was still being quite gingerly about movement - a side effect of being puked on 5 times that day. She layed down on my chest and the the "Ex-or-cist" returned with avengence. It got all over her pajamas, completely down my back, down my front too (all the way to my belly button), the back cushion of the couch, and completely covered a throw pillow. Gross to say the least. I stood up and asked DH to take care of the couch. I walked into the bathroom with Riley and just stared in the mirror not knowing where to start the cleaning process. I was dripping, and she was stinky. We got cleaned up and Riley went to bed an hour later. She even slept through most of the night. She's much better today.

In fact, I believe we are through the piling stage and have moved to the lower end. Ha! Riley is playing again today, so I know she's feeling better. While playing today on her jumper, she got quiet. Then there was "thunder". When I pulled her out, I could see what she had been working on. To the changing table we went. It was messy, to say the least - all the way to her knees! I decided to put her in the bath, but needed to get her pajamas soaking. So, I carried the naked baby into the bathroom to put her clothes in the sink. I guess I had disrupted riley's work earlier, because now the front of my nightgown was soaked. And it wasn't puke.

There I stood in the bathroom with the naked, covered in poo baby while I was wet too. So we both got in the bath. Quite a morning! I'm tired :)

I really do love being a mommy. This weekend has been tiring, but I'm so happy to be doing "my job" - taking care of Riley. One day, I'll get to tell her this story and laugh with her. I'm already laughing about it (and I bet my mom and MIL will too).

Oooh, not fun! I hope she feels better! I had it the beginning of February and the good news is that after a full 48 hours you are feeling almost normal again. The diarrhea lasts a little longer though. My 8 month old niece has it right now too.

You're doing a great job Momma!

Poor Riley!

We've had some nasty poopy diapers recently, although I've kept dry and clean, LOL.

Thank you.
