A 24weeker

A friend of a friend gave birth last Sunday to a baby girl. The baby's name is Sarah. She was only 24 weeks. The baby is doing okay right now...she's alive, and I find that amazing. She has a brain bleed and a hole in her heart. They are giving her meds for her heart and are hopeful that the hole will heal. She actually cried when she was born. Her mom said it was more like a "meow", but that is amazing to me too.

So, 24 weeks really is a miracle age. It is by no means the "everything's going to be okay" age...but it does give a fighting chance. This baby is definitely fighting. If you are the praying type, please pray that the hole in her heart heals. And please pray to give her parents the strength they need for the coming months.

For now I am setting my goal to 24weeks. For those that are counting, that will be late April.
We will make it further than that, but I need to set a goal that is realistic to me...and 40 weeks is just too far away.

That is actually my dream. I get preggo and then make it to 24 weeks. It is very understandable that you feel that way.

praying...having a micro-preemie is rough and she definently has a long road ahead of her....

kinda crazy how everyone else's "worst thing" becomes some sort of a goal for us...

24 weeks is a realistic goal, but then again so is next week. It sometimes seems so far away, but take it one day at a time if you need to.

Praying for baby Sarah.

i'm hoping for you too.
i can't tell you how many times i hear 'miracle at 24 weeks' and i admit that I selfisly think 'why didn't my daughter receive those few days she needed?

and you are right, it is not the magic week, as there is still a struggle for life. a struggle is needed, not a miracle however.

That is incredible. I'm so happy to hear that she is doing well.
